Mindful vs Mind-FULL!

My mind is too busy! It won't stop thinking! How can I be mindful when my mind is soooo FULL!! These are the concerns of many when asked to do a mindfulness practice. It is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed at the thought of no thinking or to stop thinking. Well, the good news is that you do not have to do either of those. Just as the heart was made to beat, and lungs were made to breathe, the mind was made to think! And it does a very good job of it...doesn't it?

Being mindful is merely being present to what is happening in this exact moment. We often get caught in the whirlwind of doing and thinking at such a fast pace that it just doesn't make sense to stop and pull off the road for a minute. But that is EXACTLY what we need to do. That is what the Mindfulness Minute is all about! Right in the middle of it all...the chaos, the noise, and the busy-ness of life...we can stop and become present to the truth of the moment.

You do not have to shave your head and meditate for hours on end (the meditation may be a good idea though!) You just do you, and once a day, once with meals, once an hour...whatever you choose, stop and take a few deep breaths, notice your feet on the ground, notice how your feel, and be ok with it all. There is nothing to do in this moment, just notice. I am excited to see where this practice leads you.
